Elvis Blog – Post #65 – Guest Bloggers

DATELINE: Amelia Island (near Jacksonville, Florida)
Remembering Sunday 30 September 2012

ELVIS QUOTE:
“The only thing worse than watching a bad movie is being in one.”

ELVIS TRIVIA:
The first Elvis riot that was caused as a result of his performance on 13 May, 1955, took place in what city?

ELVIS HISTORY:
Friday 13 May 1955
Elvis’s performance at the Gator Bowl caused a riot, the first of its kind in rock and roll history. Audience members jumped onto the stage and began to tear Elvis’s clothes off him. Critics claimed that watching Elvis perform was like watching a striptease while sipping milk—he was decent but lewd, proper but sexual, and steamy but cool.

AMELIA ISLAND, FLORIDA:
Sunday 30 September 2012
This is the last of the daily blogs from me. I will only post three times a week for a while. I have asked guess bloggers to write when they feel like it. I am getting ready for the Ancient City Romance Authors (ACRA) Boot Camp Friday and Saturday. Debra Dixon (Goal, Motivation, and Conflict) of Bell Bridge Books will be the featured guest. She is a phenomenal speaker. I will have two days of great workshops and take a trip to the chocolate factory in beautiful old St. Augustine—how perfect is that?

JOKE OF THE DAY:
An engineer dies and reports to the pearly gates. By mistake, St. Peter sends him below. Soon he’s implemented air conditioning, flushing toilets, and escalators.
God: Calls Satan on the telephone.
God: “So how’s it going down there in Hell?”
Satan: “Great. This new engineer you sent me is great!”
God: “WHAT? That’s a mistake. Send him up to me at once.”
Satan: “No way!”
God: “Send him back up here, or I’ll sue!”
Satan: “Yeah, right. And just where are YOU going to get a lawyer?”

RECIPE OF THE DAY:
Monkfish (angler fish):
It’s a terribly ugly fish but tastes like lobster.
Place 1 lb monkfish fillet, skinned & cut into 1 ½ “ chunks in a bowl with 1 T black pepper & garlic crush (great way to cut down on salt—the silent killer)
Crush is made by crushing garlic cloves & whole black peppercorns using pestle & mortar.
You can add lemon or lime juice to this and/or herbs (like rosemary)
This works as a dry marinade for meat or fish
Marinade 10 min or so
Heat wok (or a large fry pan) over high w/ 1 T veg. oil
Add 1 peeled & finely sliced onion
Stir fry 1 min
Stir in 2 each seeded red & yellow bell peppers & 2 C sugar snap peas, all halved long ways & sliced thin
Fry 5 min
Remove vegs to platter using slotted spoon
Add 2 T olive oil and monk fish and fry 4 min
Carefully turn so as not to break the fish
Add lemon zest & juice of 1 lemon, & return the vegs to pan to heat, stir for 2-3 min
Scatter a handful of freshly torn basil
Serve immediately over a bed of rice

DOG RULE #5:
The proper order is: Kiss me, then go smell another dog’s butt. I cannot stress this enough.
